Entertainment for Children

                        The Pet Farm

A great experience for all children to see different farm animals, especially those who live in the city.  There isn't usually an entrance fee, but there is a donation box to help feed these wonderful animals.

"As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth;
to see the land as an animal does;
to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee;
to feel the earth quiver and breathe beneath us;
to know a hundred different smells of mud and listen unself-consciously
to the sowing of the trees."
~ Valerie Andrews (A passion for this earth)

A beautiful stone bridge over a pond with ducks
"Children are born with a sense of wonder and affinity for Nature.
Properly cultivated, these values can mature into ecological literacy,
and eventually into sustainable patterns of living."
~ Zenobia Barlow (Confluence of Streams)

Soft and fluffy rabbits
"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit.
"No," said Pooh, humbly.  There isn't.  But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."
~ A. A. Milne (Winne-the-Pooh)

A still maiden so fair to welcome all
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
~ Anatole France

Turkeys gobbling away
"Some people talk to animals.  Not many listen though. That's the problem."
~ A. A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)

Have you ever heard a turkey gobble?
"How do you spell 'love'?" - Piglet
"You don't spell it... you feel it." - Pooh
~ A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)

Shy little guinea pigs
"The furry little buggers are just deep, deep wells you throw all your emotions into."
~  Bruce Schimmel

A lovely little waterfall to fill the pond for the ducks
"Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal.  Difficult standards for people to live up to."
Alfred A. Montapert

Camouflage at it's best!  Can you see the ducks?
"Sometimes," said Pooh, "the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."
~ A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)

Ducks as white as snow
"Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it so much the larger and better in every way."
~ John Muir

Up for a swim?
"Those who dwell, as scientists or laymen, among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life."
~ Rachel Carson

Tails up, heads down... looking for lunch
"It is much easier to show compassion to animals.  They are never wicked."
~ Haile Selassie

Wild geese
"I realised that if I had to choose.  I would rather have birds than airplanes."
~ Charles Lindbergh

A great variety of geese
"Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, simpler state of being which we may strive to attain."
~ Doug Coupland

Are we this accepting of those different to us?
"Just because an animal is large,
it doesn't mean he doesn't want kindness;
however big Tigger seems to be,
remember that he wants as much kindness as Roo."
~ A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)

Billy Goat Gruff... not all grown up yet...
"If you enter a goat stable, bleat;  if you enter a water buffalo stable, bellow."
~ Indonesian Proverb

This kid misses his mountain
"Birds are indicators of the enviroment.  If they are in trouble, we know we'll soon be in trouble."
